Ravish Kumar belongs to a modest family of Biharo. After studying in a monetary waveleader in Patna, he came to Delhi to continue his studies in 1990. Ravish says that before he came to Delhi, the only 'big' cities he had seen were Lucknow, Jamshedpur and Ranikhet.
In Delhi, Ravish was registered at Deshbandhu College, where speakers like Anil Sethi and Rana Bahal became his mentors who encouraged and helped him in many ways. About Ravish said:
They taught me English how to eat at the table, how to talk to girls, how to use a necktie. In Delhio, the owner of Ravish Kumar, Sharmaji, often advised him to learn English.

After graduation of journalism at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Mr. Ravish joined the NDTV India in 1996 and became one of the most popular Indian journalists in India. Many of his shows on NDTV India have been rated by both public and critics.
Ravish Kumar covers the unprecedented stories of ordinary Indian lives. The first "Ravish Ki report" was concerned with Paharganj. In the show he covered the city's infected life and presented it in a lay language.
