At the age of 12 he moved from Roorkee to Delhi for professional cricket training. Initially he was registered at the Sonnet Club, where his young coach, Tarak Sinha, suggested he had moved to Rajasthan for better cricket opportunities.
To save his cricket career, he left Rajasthan to go to Delhi, who proved to be the right choice for him; because he played exceptionally well for Delhi at different age tournaments and made his first class debut for Delhi in 2015.
When he started playing for the India team, coach Rahul Dravido played an important role in improving his decision as he spent long hours with Pant to improve his stick.
