His efforts were paid when his daughter Geeta won a gold medal and Babita won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. In 2012 they also won a bronze medal at the World Championships. That same year Geeta became the first Indian wrestler to participate in the Olympics.
He was a chief supervisor, as if his daughters were not on the ground at four o'clock in the morning, he demanded heavy sentences about them. He led them to the steep arena, local wrestling competitions and even built a gym with high tech for training.

Due to his contribution to the Indian wrestling he received the Dronacharya Prize of the Wrestling of India. His wife, Shobha Kaur, was three times the Sarpanch of their village. According to his life, in 2016 a biographical film "Dangal" was directed by Aamir Khan to show his way to success.
