His family was religious in spirit and followed vigorously "Arya Samas". He never was interested in studying and left school 10 years when he was in the fifth grade; because he was very interested in helping his father in his store.

When he was interested in business, his father sent him to work in accounting, where he developed the company of abilities for about 2 years. When he joined his father's store, he initially sold the "mehandi" on the street and scored around  20 / day.

During his fight for the independence of the British, he participated in the communist protests.
On September 7, 1947, after the separation of India-Pakistan, he emigrated with his family from Pakistan to India and arrived at a camp of refugees in Amritsar. Later he came to Delhi with his brother-in-law in search of work.

When he moved to Delhi, his father gave 1500. With this money he bought a $ 650 horse tunnel from the Tanga and carried passengers from Connaught Place to Karol Bagh.

In 1959 he bought land in Kirti Nagar there, setting up his own factory, where "MDH Spices" or "Mahashian Di Hatti Limited" empire founded what "the shop of a generous man" in the pagan.

In 1954 he founded 'Roopak Stores' in Karol Bagh, the first modern herb store in India then in Delhi. Later, however, he entrusted 'Roopak Stores' to his younger brother, Satpal Gulati.
