Her father, who was a recreational commissioner, died as an adolescent. She wanted to be a doctor. But for her constant illness she could not live until her dream. Waheeda was a good dancer. It was his passion. She came to the cinema because of her dance.
She made a little dance in a vocal film 'Rojulu Marayi'. On the night of Rojulu Maaraayi's success, Guru Dutt noticed her and decided to train her. He took her to Mumbai and took her to her production of CID in 1956, directed by Raj Khosla.
Waheeda looked at Guru Dutt as his mentor. Dev Anand was his favorite actor. In her first movie with Dev Anand she was frightened and did not have the courage to say 'Dev'. Then Dev said I could not have fun if you did not mention me by my name. It was a long time to try to call it Dev.
