Up to the age of 4 she grew up in Shahabad at Gulbarga in Karnataka and then moved to Bengaluro.
As a university student she acquired 94% of her Jurly exams and wanted to do a career in medical sciences, but she did not sit down.
She started modeling at the university and used a balance between studies and modeling. In October 1997 she won the title of Miss Tamil Nadu and the title of Miss South India in 1998. She was chosen for the 26 finalists of the 8,000 candidates for Feminine Miss India 2000 and reached the fourth at the end.
She also worked as a VJ for the television show "Illimai Pudhumai" in Sun TV and "Phone Manipol" in Vijay TV. She is one of the Tamil Bigg Boss participants - season 2.
