He was born in Scotland and lived in London until the age of 7, after his family returned to Mumbai, India. He had his first eye on his Scottish classmate Ann. Milind aspired to be a swimmer and at the age of 10 he began to swim.
He even represented Maharashtra at the National Championships, winning the national championship for five consecutive years 1984-1988 in the "broken category".
It made him ill to know that he could not represent India at the Asian Games of 1986; because the national federation did not send a swimmer in this category.
Milind Soman began to model an accident and was rejected at the first modeling with "Graviera Suitings" because he considered too young to wear a suit. His progress in the model appeared in 1989 with "Thackersey fabric", for which he received a large amount of 50,000.

He is considered the first male model of India. Milind dominated the children's hearts with his superhero role "Captain Vyom" in the science fiction "Captain Vyom" in 1998.
In 2004 he participated in the first marathon in Mumbai, after he was bitten by the running virus.
Milind also owns an agency of events and a television company. In 2017 he judged with Malaika Arora the third season of "Top Top Model of India".
