Her mother "Moon Moon Sen" was also an actress and her sister "Raima Sen" is also a model and actress. His mother is actively engaged in politics and was a member of the Bankruptcy constituency in West Bengal with a ticket for the TMC Trinamool Congress.
Riya and her sister "Raima Without" use the name of her maternal grandmother "Suchitra Sen". She made her debut on screen in 1991 as a child artist in a Bollywood movie "Vishkanya" as Young Nishi.
