When he was in Norma 9, his father passed him for an audition for Punjab Doordarshan, where he was elected, but his father did not allow it because it was out of three-month shooting. During his last years in the university, he was not sure about his career, he resigned his hopes to act and decided to join the army.
He was expelled from his house for his innocent character. He was so cared for by his parents and he stayed with some drivers in his cousin's friend in Delhi's home. During his difficult days he began to help someone with making documentary in Delhi.

He contacted his parents after three years when his first documentary was broadcast on television.
Rajeev offered his parents a wireless phone with his first salary. Few people know that Rajeev made his television debut in 1998 with the "Banphool" series in the role of Maharaj, broadcast on DD National.
During his first days in Mumbai he had to travel to Delhi every 15 days. During one of his visits to Delhi, he found out that Eji Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms had heard for his new show "Kahiin To Hoga", which he had heard and was chosen after 4 days.
In 2002 Rajeev and Delhi's fianc2ee wanted to open a company to create documentaries together, but she tricked all her money and went to Mumbai. Rajeev became known for his role as Sujal Garewal in the series of "Star Plus" series Kahiin Toh Hoga.
