He grew up in the region of Temkar Mohalla in Dongri. He went to the Ahmed Sailor High School in Dongri. However, he left a high school. Dawood grew up in Dongri and made contact with Haji Mastan, the gangster.
He also worked in Karim Lala Gang. Shortly there was a dispute between Dawood and Haji Mastan and when he attacked two of his men, Dawood founded the D-company along with his brother Shabir Ibrahim Kaskar. Signature D has become one of the largest organized crime unions in Southeast Asia.
