She studied in New Delhi. His father worked as an engineer at IIT Roorkee. She hit the IIT entry test. However, she obtained a poor rank in IIT with 6.2 CGPA. Her father wanted her to be an official. She was also interested in public service.
She started preparing for state services. However, her father wanted her to appear on the UPSC exam of the Union's public services commission. She made her first attempt at UPSC in 2010. She could not pass the exam. In 2011 her father died and she was depressed.
