In fact, it was an announcement by Bimal Roy and Guru Dutt for a movie that Dharmendra went to Malerkotla to have his portfolio directed by Jaan Mohammed John & Sons. Dharmendra won the film "New Talent Hunt" of the Filmfare magazine and visited Mumbai for the first time in search of work.
In 1954, when he married his first wife, Parkash Kaur, he was only 19 years old. He appeared as a single hero in Phool Aur Patthar in 1966, his first film. In the 1960s, her relations with Meena Kumari were often the headlines.
