He also worked in Raj Kapoor's garage to help his family finance. Anil played and walked barefoot as a child. His father was a famous film producer, who previously served as secretary of Shammi Kapoor. He did not get access to the Pune Film Institute because he did not pass the written exam.
Although his debut was Hamare Tumhare, he turned for the first time to 14 years for "Tu Payal Mein Geet", but due to some circumstances the film did not come out. His role in the film Mashaal, next to Dilip Kumar, added a pen to his car's hat; when he signed two films - Jaanbaz and Mere Jung during the evening of Mashaal's premiere. That same night he went to his wife's house, Sunita, and offered to marry her.
In 2010 he appeared in the American television series "24" as Kamistan's president, Omar Hassan, and in the Indian television series with the same name as the American 24 as the main protagonist Jai Singh Rathod.

During the recordings of Dil Dhadakne, he was not allowed to show his eyes and he had a band to cover his head. In addition, it lasted 100 hours to design Anil's style for the film.
